More polls....

A new Rassmussen Reports poll shows the race for U.S. Senate in Connecticut remains tight. Conducted Monday, the poll gives US Senate Joseph Lieberman a narrow lead over Democratic nominee Ned Lamont, 45-43 - well within the margin of error (4-percent) - meaning this is a deadheat with about 78 days remaining until Nov. 7.

Republican challenger Alan Schlesinger still hasn't broken the double digit mark, polling at 6 percent.

Four percent of those polled said they hadn't made up their minds yet.

Another poll, this one from the American Research Group, also puts the race at a deadheat. In that poll, Lieberman has 44 percent to Lamont's 42 percent - with Schlesinger getting only 3 percent. Eleven percent say they're undecided.

In the governor's race, the Rasmuseen poll shows incumbent Republican Jodi Rell still maintains a comfortable lead over Democratic challenger New Haven Mayor John DeStefano, 61-31 percent.

I have found Rasmussen to be one of the best polling companies out there.

I think Lamont will defeat Lieberman in November and that the Governor's race will tighten up.

I think it’s pretty darn early for polls and for counting people out of the race. It’s August! No one is paying attention to the elections right now except people like us who made up our minds a long time ago.

The mush in the middle (whose are the only real votes up for grabs) will wait till about 10 days before the election and then make up their minds – IF they vote.

Polls right now aren't worth a pitcher full of warm spit.

-- Oh and if anyone understood the point of "Raysconscience"'s post, please explain it to me.

McCommas, I don't disagree with you on the reality of polls conducted this early. But they do represent - along with campaign finance reports - the only way to try and gauge how the race is shaping up.

As for rayconscience's point - he's clearly demonstrated that he has no clue what he's talking about, so I'm not sure anyone else will be able to explain it.
