Lieberman tour of eastern Connecticut...

U.S. Sen. Joseph Lieberman's 10-day tour of Connecticut will pull into eastern Connecticut on Tuesday. The exact itinerary has not yet been released, but stops in East Lyme, Montville, Norwich, Colchester, Killingly and Plainfield are planned.
Lieberman, a three-term incumbent, is facing his most difficult re-election bid since being elected to the Senate in 1988. Anti-war candidate, Greenwich businessman Ned Lamont, is challenging Lieberman in a Democratic primary next week. Polls indicate Lamont and Lieberman are in a statistical dead heat. Lieberman is collecting petitioning signatures to qualify as an independent candidate in November in the event he loses the Aug. 8 primary. Lamont has pledged to support the Democratic nominee.

Ray, do you have any word from the Lieberman campaign as to how their petition drive is going, have the collected enough signatures yet?

Well...let me respond to all three of these comments.

Bill...a separate group from the campaign is conducting the petitioning drive and they are not making any real effort to discuss their efforts. My guess is that since the deadline is 4 p.m. Wednesday, there will be nothing said about the petitions until Wednesday. And that's because of two reasons - one, if Lieberman wins the primary, no petitions will be filed and it becomes a moot point. Two, if Lamont wins, the petitions will be filed after Tuesday's primary - and there will likely be more than enough to qualify.

Rayconscience...And exactly how would you know something like that? Or...might it be that you - like many of the other self-appointed bloggers protecting the Democratic Party - are so sure that there are conspiracies in place that "you just know things" that the rest of us don't?

Give me a break...

and McCommas...it's one of those things that make me go more than just "hummmm...."

But people are going to believe whatever they want to believe - and sadly, there are people who are not going to let facts get in the way of a good conspiracy theory.

I was fooled into thinking that you and "Raysconscience" were one in the same.

Sorry.

McCommas...we may disagree on things every now and then...but there is one thing you can always count on here. I'm not going to play games or decieve anyone. I am ray hackett, and that is the only name I will ever use on this blog page...I welcome anyone's thoughts and opinions...even those of "rayconscience" - although I do wish we could get away from these foolish conspiracy theories.

Johnny...and that is the shame of it. The Internet, and the blogs, offer so much to expand involvement in the political process...and these kind of wild-eye conspiracy theories (which are only an attempt by some to dismiss anyone who disagrees with them) don't help. But I still have faith in people.
