The showdown in Hartford...

Depending on the "count," the Democratic leadership in Hartford certainly appears eager to finally have that showdown with Republican Gov. M. Jodi Rell - and the issue is the $3.2 billion bond package. If the Democratic leadership believes it has the votes to override her veto...they'll go for it.

If not...it's hard to say what they'll do. But her suggestion of cutting out the school construction portion of the package and voting on that alone in the special session she called for Wednesday doesn't seem likely. Nor does it appear likely, at least right now, that she's willing to back down either.

Good thing the House Republicans stood strong and all voted "No" on the Democrats ridiculous bond package.

We can also thank the House Republicans for bringing out their own budget proposal earlier in the year when the Governor and the Democrats were talking about tax increases.

As a result of their proposal (no increase in the income tax), Connecticut's citizens didn't have an income tax increase shoved down their throat which we don't need.

Isn't it time to elect more Republicans to the State House?

THANK YOU Larry Cafero and the House Republicans.

For once in her life Rell should stand her ground.

If they do override the Governor’s veto than at least she can say she is not to blame for the harm it will cause in the long term.

There is no shame in losing if the cause is just and saving some of the taxpayer’s money is certainly a just cause in my opinion.

It’s the least she should do after increasing taxes on working Joes and Josephines as much as she did already.

I am still asking where is my tax cut. With the surpluses we should have a tax break or we should be paying down our heavy debts (or both) instead of throwing it down another rat hole.
