To the capitol....

I'm off to Hartford this afternoon, my first visit to the Capitol since the legislative session began last week.

Of course, the big news of the day today is the president's speech on his new strategy for Iraq. I'd be interested in hearing what you think of the speech - so feel free to comment later tonight after he delivers it.

During your visit to Hartford, did you hear anything about the Ken Krayeske Incident, where a man was arrested for breach of peace after photographing the Governor during the inauguration parade. His bail was set at $75,000, an amount common an assault charge, held in custody because he could not make bail at that amount, and later released at 1 AM on his own recognizance. It turns out that the Connecticut Intelligence Center had a file on him and others who are politically active.

I would like to see a story by you on this issue.

The President's 'plan' is too little, too late. Twenty thousand additional troops are not sufficient to control the situation and may only serve to inflame local Islamic who don't like infidels in their land. The Iraqi government, such as it is, is not likely to hold up its end of the bargain since there will not be sufficient troops to take, clear, hold, and build - the only solution in a counter insurgency mission.
